| Picnic - About a week before we left. We
met at a park. We had to do a poster on what our report topic
was on. Then we went on a scavenger hunt to find the different
answers to all the posters. After that was all over we had a water balloon
fight. |
| Day 1 - Arrival at Salt Lake City. When we
arrived we met our Naturalist Leaders. The name of my Naturalist leader
was Jessica. She was really nice and she taught us a lot. We stayed on the
campus of the Southern Utah University. |
| Day 2 - Zion National Park - Kolob Canyon.
This was a really good experience for me. We got to see the Virgin River
through the beautiful Canyons |
| Day 3 - Zion National Park - Angel's
Landings. This was one of the hardest hikes. It was 110 degrees outside
and we hiked up a 7,500 foot mountain. We hiked about 14 miles. |
| Day 4 - Zion National Park - The Narrows.
We got to hike through the Virgin River. We got to see the canyon walls,
up close. That was cool!! I AM SO SORRY, BUT ON THIS DAY THERE ARE NO
PICTURES. WE WERE NOT ABLE TO TAKE A CAMERA!!! |
| Day 5 - Jacob Lake & The Grand Canyon. Here
we had to drive from Utah to Arizona. We saw, The Grand Staircase.
at night we got to see the amazing sunset over the Grand Canyon. |
| Day 6 - The Grand Canyon. On this day we
hiked around the Grand Canyon. We didn't get to see a bald eagle, but it
was still pretty amazing. |
| Day 7 - Page, AZ & Lake Powell. We went
to the Glen Canyon Dam, where we learned that electricity is created by giant
turbines. We took an elevator 700 feet to the base of the dam. |
| Day 8 - Lake Powell. This day was so much
fun. We went Kayaking. It was SO much fun. |
| Day 9 - Navajo Nation. We were all so happy
because it was laundry day. We got to wash all of our funky clothes. |
| Day 10 - Navajo Nation. We stayed near the
Navajo Reservation. We got to sleep outside under to stars and everything. |
| Day 11 - Monument Valley & Natural Bridges.
On this day we explored the beautiful bridges. |
| Day 12 - Capitol Reef. This day was so much
fun because we got to swim in a waterfall. We explored the Mormon settlements along the Fremont River. The village was named Fruita in 1902. We saw the old Fruita school house. |
| Day 13 - Salt Lake City. Today it was a 5
hour drive back to Utah. We had to stay on the campus of the University of
Utah and visited the site of the 2002 Winter Olympics. We also visited the Great Salt Lake. |
| Day 14 - Departed for Home. It was a very sad
day. All of us were crying. But we knew that this trip would have to end.
I have made lasting friendships. |
